Cryotherapy, the use of cold treatment, dates back centuries and originated with ice and/or cold water. Impact’s focus is Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC). WBC is the use of nitrogen gas at extremely cold temperatures (as low as -184 Fahrenheit or -120 Celsius) for a short period of time.
WBC was developed in 1978 by Dr. Toshima Yamauchi of Japan
WBC made its debut in the United States ten years ago. Since then, cryotherapy has become an overall wellness tool and part of a consistent health regimen
The impact Cryosauna has been evaluated by the FDA under the 513(g) process.
How does it work?
Participants stand in cryosauna. The body from the neck down is inside the cryosauna and the head extends above the cryosauna. When the skin is exposed to cryotherapy temperatures (-90 Celsius to -120 Celsius), the body sends a strong signal to the brain to take life-saving measures to protect itself in case the temperature continues to fall. The body’s response is to make sure its core organ temperatures remain stable.
• Cryotherapy experience will be slightly different for everyone.
